Four ways a record gets lost — and what happens instead

The complaints the incumbent's one-star reviews keep repeating: the app dies mid-service, the data does not sync, the photo or the reading goes missing, and the same stop gets booked twice from two phones. Each one has an answer here.

Written to the phone first

A stop is saved when the phone's own database commits it, not when a request returns. Submitting is a retry loop, never a one-shot POST.

A photo lands whole or not at all

Uploads go to a temp file, are fsynced, then renamed into place. An interrupted upload cannot leave half an image on the record.

Every record says what it is

Pending, synced, or refused with the server's own reason. The sync log is the receipt, and nothing is dropped quietly.

One stop, one entry

Each capture carries its own id and the server applies it once. Two phones on the same stop cannot double-book it.
